The Infinity Scarf

This simple Infinity Scarf  is a great way to complete your winter hat ensemble. It goes nicely with any hat in the Head to Toe collection.
Infinity Scarf - Purple Magenta

Infinity Scarf - Teal Multi

The yarns are so soft that the scarf lies flat underneath your coat. Compact enough to throw in your bag when not using it.

Craft Show Update

It was great seeing familiar faces and meeting new customers at the Fall Holiday Shows this season (2015).

But the weather was warm during every show weekend from October through December, and many customers were shopping exclusively online. So my sales were not as high as they needed to be to be profitable after the expenses (approx. $2,000 cost per show!).

So, I've decided to move my Head to Toe booth online to this blog.

It actually gives me the opportunity to display hats and scarves in greater detail and on models, so you can clearly see what you're ordering. . . And, you can simply click on the image to go to the item page on my online shop:

  • There's a separate blog post for each style in my collection: Roller Hat, Fedora, Donegal, etc.
  • You can instantly click directly to my Etsy shop ("Accessorama.etsy.com") using the blue box on the right side of this page.
  • Order crochet patterns from the images on the right side of the page.

As the weather is getting colder, start shopping today for the warm weather accessories you need to stay cozy and fashionable. I'll be adding more color options and items, so sign up in the box on the top right to follow the blog via email or check in regularly.

Thanks so much.

The Muffin Hat

While a beanie is easy to throw on your head and slip into a pocket when not in use--which is why guys love them--it's not a very warm hat.

Also, most faces look more attractive with some volume around the bottom of the hat--a brim, a peak, a cuff. The Muffin Hat solves both of these problems, providing warmth to the forehead and ears, while flattering the face with volume where it's needed.

New to the Head to Toe Collection in 2015, the Muffin Hat is worked in a double strand of worsted yarns, transitioning from a solid color on top, to a two-color tweed into the crown, and finishing up with a third color mixed with one of the previous colors. The waterfall color effect is sophisticated and engaging.

More Colors for the Roller Hat

Here are some more of the tempting color combinations you can choose for the Roller Hat

In fact, I once had a customer--in Florida, no less-- who ordered seven(!) Roller Hats, one for each of her winter coats in Connecticut! Just goes to show, you can't be too warm or too fashionable!

The Button Scarflet

Winter scarves can be so bulky -- getting tangled up in long hair, handbag straps, coat collars. And then, when you get inside, where do you put your bulky winter scarf? Amazingly, you can get a lot of warmth from the lovely little Button Scarflet.

Small enough to fit in your bag or coat sleeve when not in use, the Button Scarflet is soft and cozy around your neck and your upper chest, just where you need that extra warmth.

Crocheted in an attractive linear rib pattern, with contrasting multi-color boucle yarn edging, and distinctive button closures, it's just right.

You can wear it indoors--at home or at the office--since it nicely tops off your blouse or sweater. You can wear it either over or under your coat, since it's so petite.

The Donegal/Greek Fisherman Cap

A recent addition to the Head to Toe collection, the Donegal/Greek Fisherman Cap is lightweight, urbane, and my favorite hat to wear about town on errands, to travel with, or to wear out at night to hear music. On that note (pardon the pun), it can be worn indoors, so it's perfect for a bad hair day or for a short-hair or ponytail look.

It keeps the top of the head warm, features a braided band with decorative buttons, and a peak to keep out the sun, wind or rain.

Shaped in an oblong, just like the traditional Donegal or Greek Fisherman Cap, it looks equally smart on women, kids, and men.

The Fedora

Since my hat collection began in summertime in the Rocky Mountains of Aspen CO, I wanted to include a structured, yet jaunty cotton summer hat with a brim for sun shade.
Aspen customer in Cotton Fedora

The top is flat, with a defining edge stitch, and there's a hat band that can be tied at whatever degree of snugness the wearer prefers. Its shallower brim makes it sit on the head like a sun hat, in contrast to the deep crown of the Roller Hat.

Because cotton is not really cool enough in the blazing heat of summer, I no longer sell the cotton fedora. But the Winter Fedora is popular, because it warms the head without pressure and provides a sun-shading brim in cool weather.

The brim can be worn at various angles, for varying moods of "hatitude".

The Zhivago Hat

When it's really cold outside, and the wind is blowing, serious ear and forehead coverage is a must. Thus was born the Zhivago Hat. Here's a happy customer I outfitted during a snowstorm on market day at the Aspen Saturday Market:

The Zhivago Hat stitch pattern mimics knitting, but it's crocheted. Thick ribbed rows double over on themselves to create a very deep, warm insulating ear and forehead cover.

A flower or a pom pom finishes it off.

Designed as part of the first collection I showed at the Aspen Saturday Market, the Zhivago Hat is still popular, and it fits women, kids, and men.

The Roller Hat

Tightly constructed, with a brim that reliably rolls through years of wear, the Roller Hat continues to be my best seller -- at shows, online, and in crochet patterns. Chiefly, I suppose, because it flatters most faces.

Here it's being modeled by customers at my booth at the Aspen Saturday Market:

It even looks charming on little fashionistas:

The colors are gorgeous, too, since the original Roller Hat features variegated blends of boucle (curly) yarn paired with solid backing colors. (Click images for more details and to order.)
